Everything Mangawhai is a small, hand-maintained field guide to the Heads, the village, Tara and Te Arai. We exist for one reason — travel guides that update once every three years are useless to visitors who want to eat at the cafe that’s actually open.

01What gets listed

Places we’d send our mum, our friends, and ourselves. We don’t list places that are clearly closed, places we haven’t been, or places that have asked us to list them in exchange for money — because nobody can pay to be listed here.

02How it stays current

We update the guide quarterly — January, April, July, October — walking through every entry and confirming hours, prices, who’s open. Tip-offs from locals between updates fast-track changes. Nothing rots here for two years.

03By the numbers
