Takeaways in Mangawhai: pizza, burgers, Indian, Mexican and pies

Every takeaway in Mangawhai Heads and the Village with hours from their own sites: Wood Street Pizzeria, MEAN BRGR, Dot India, Gringas, The BBQ Hut and more.

Mangawhai's takeaways are split between the Wood Street shops at the Heads and the Village, five minutes apart. For pizza go to Wood Street Pizzeria, for burgers MEAN BRGR, for curry Dot India in the Village, for tacos Gringas, and for smoked meat and pies The BBQ Hut and The Cow Shed. Hours below are from each place's own site; most shorten them in winter.

Pizza in Mangawhai

  • Wood Street Pizzeria, Mangawhai Heads: handcrafted pizzas, sharing plates and craft beer, with takeaway and online ordering. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 12pm to 9pm; Wednesday and Thursday 2pm to 9pm; Friday and Saturday 12pm to 11pm.
  • The Local, the Village: pizzas on the evening menu, with takeaway by phone. Closed Tuesdays.
  • McLeod's Pizza Barn, Waipu: hand-rolled pizzas alongside house-smoked ribs and wings, burgers and fish and chips. Wednesday to Sunday 11.30am to 9pm.

Burgers and smoked meat

  • MEAN BRGR, Mangawhai Heads: beef, chicken, vegetarian and kids' burgers and fries. Evenings only: Monday to Friday 5pm to 7.30pm, Saturday and Sunday 4pm to 7.30pm.
  • The BBQ Hut, the Village: smash burgers, smoked brisket and pork, meat boxes, toasties and pies, from 7am on weekdays with some evenings.

Indian takeaway

  • Dot India, the Village: curries, biryanis, naan and vegetarian dishes, takeaway and online ordering. Every day, 11am to 2pm and 4.30pm to 9pm.
  • Madly Indian Mangawhai: curries, tandoori, biryani and samosas. We couldn't confirm its current hours; check before you go.
  • Spice Lounge, Kaiwaka: Indian street food and takeaway on the way in from State Highway 1, 9am to 5pm daily.

Mexican, Thai and the rest

  • Gringas, Mangawhai Heads: Tex-Mex and tacos with online takeaway orders. Tuesday to Friday from 5pm, Saturday and Sunday from midday.
  • Greenview Cafe, Mangawhai Heads: a café by day that turns into a Thai restaurant from 5pm to 8.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday, with takeaway.
  • The Cow Shed: handmade pies from a food truck outside the Mangawhai Village Hall, 9.30am to 1.30pm, Sunday to Friday.
  • Akemi's Gyoza: Japanese dumplings, fresh or in frozen packs, at the Saturday Tavern Market.

Fish and chips?
